Hey yall! I'm Hannah, a 20 something newlywed baseball wife. My husband Cy is a pitcher in the Milwaukee Brewers organization. He was drafted last year, so this is his first full season and my first season on the road with him! I grew up in Alaska and Cy grew up in Idaho, and we met at college in Dallas, so between baseball and visiting our families, we see a lot of this great country. 

Cayte and I "met" online before Cy got drafted and I'm so thankful we did! She has been such a great source of encouragement. Baseball "WAGs" - wives and girlfriends are really such an incredible group of women! 

ONE| If you don't travel for an away series, what is your favorite thing to do while Cy is on the road?

I've started getting into yoga! There is a great studio downtown and I've gone to a couple hot yoga classes, it's so relaxing! I also like to visit new coffee shops and go get a manicure... That's my weakness! 

TWO| What were your expectation going into this crazy life and how are they different?

One thing I wasn't prepared for was how boring it can get! The days can really get long when you're alone so much. Thankfully I have made some friends here, that has been so great. And getting a job is really helpful as well!

THREE| What's your favorite aspect about working at the ballpark?

Well one huge thing is the schedule flexibility! I am off when the team is gone, so I can go on road trips if I want, and they totally are totally standing with letting me off when Cy pitches. I also really love just getting to know new people! 

FOUR| There are lots of highs and lows in baseball. Is Cy the type of guy that likes to talk about his outings or keeps it all in? 

At the very beginning of our relationship I told Cy I wasn't going to put up with him being super moody if he has a bad outing.. Haha! He is really good about talking to me (knowing that I need him to verbally interact in order to feel connected.. #Girlprobz) but he doesn't dwell on it long! He usually talks to his dad on the phone to go over the game too. 

FIVE| What's your favorite place you have traveled to see Cy play? 

Last season Cy played in Helena, MT and when I visited they played a commuter series in Great Falls, MT so I made that trip twice and loved it! It was a beautiful 2 hour drive through the hills. So peaceful!!

SIX| Not many off days in this life, so how do you spend them when they come?!

This season we've had 3 off days, one of which was during spring training. In Phoenix, we went to an indoor speedway place, shopped a bit, and met up with one of Cy's college teammates for dinner. Here in Appleton, both times we have slept in and had a lazy morning then golfed all afternoon- which is funny since we are pretty awful golfers. We just like to relax on off days! 

SEVEN| What's the biggest difference between college and pro ball?

As far as ballpark experience goes, it's huge. In college, there's no in game entertainment. You sit and watch the game. But in pro ball, people pretty much come more for the entertainment than for the game itself. There's always promos, games, and music going on. It's really pretty cool! 

EIGHT| If you had to try and explain this lifestyle to someone that doesn't know anything baseball, how would you describe it? 

I usually say something along the lines of "my husband plays baseball for a living, and the team that he plays for is slowly moving him up through their developmental system. This means that we could be sent pretty much anywhere in the country with no notice! We live a gypsy life- and travel light!" 

NINE| What's your hidden talent?

You know how most people can roll their tongue into a "u" shape? I can roll mine into a "w" shape. Apparently it's a genetic thing. 

TEN| Favorite vacation spot you've never been to?

I would love to go to Venice! I'm fascinated by the history there. And the food ;) 

Carleigh and Conner's Wedding Weekend

After traveling through the night from Myrtle Beach on Friday, D.J. and I arrived in Charlottesville, VA for the special celebration of our dear friends, Conner and Carleigh.  

We hit the bed around 5 a.m. and got about six hours of sleep before the guys went to grab lunch at Jack Browns (only the best hamburger/french fry/sauce/fried oreo place in the world - if you are ever in Harrisonburg, Charlottesville, Richmond, or Nashville you have to try it!).  Jaci, Brad's girlfriend and I decided to stalk them and grab some lunch there as well.  

Then we went back to the hotel and got ready for the wedding.  They got married at King Family Vineyard in Crozet, VA which is about 25 minutes from our hotel.  The venue was STUNNING.  Food was delicious. Bridal party looked hot.  And seeing our friends was the best thing ever.  Enjoy the photos!

Myrtle Beach | 2015

Last weekend the girls and I hit the road to Myrtle Beach for a quick road trip to see the guys play against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans.  To make life easier on Maria and her sweet boy, I drove to Lynchburg and hopped in the car with her to make the trip down. 

We took the most beautiful route and wanted to stop at South of the Border, but decided it would be a tourist nightmare, so that didn't happen.

But we did see a pretty cool sunset. 

The guys got in super late really early Friday morning and slept till around noon.  Maria and I got up, played with the babe, got our workout in all before they woke up.  We decided to grab some lunch at River City Cafe and went to the beach for a few hours before the guys had to go to the field. 

D.J. was scheduled to pitch Saturday, so I didn't take the camera in on Friday. 

Friday after the game, we played mom and dad so Maria and Eric could enjoy a night out in Myrtle Beach.  Their little boy makes it so easy- he fell asleep on the ride home and went right back to sleep when we put in him the pack-n-play.  All babies are that easy right!?

He seriously did such a good job traveling down to South Carolina.  He watched lots of Sesame Street, took a few naps, and had some snack and was good to go!

Saturday we went to breakfast at Cracker Barrel with the guys and were planning on going to the beach again, but decided to take it easy in the room and catch up on some sleep.  

We walked around at Broadway at the Beach before going to the game at 7:00 p.m.

D.J. had a great game - 6.2 innings pitched, 4 hits, 1 run, 2 walks, 1 strikeout and got the win!

 

Whatever it takes to occupy a babe. 

We made one of the guys take a group girls photo for us since we never seem to get one all together! 

Seems to be a common theme on the blog lately - another awesome sunset. 

So thankful to be able to do life with this kid.

We got on the road Sunday afternoon around 2 and were hope by 7 to grab some groceries and wait for the guys to get in at 3:30 in the morning. 

I cannot begin to explain how thankful I am to be able to work remotely and see D.J. and the girls every day.  I'll catch you up on how working from home is going for me next week.

Oh, I'm Supposed to Blog?

Well hello there, blogland.  Sorry I've been MIA again.  I promise I have a good excuse.  Remember when I told y'all that my job is letting me work remotely for the summer? Well I just started this week! I spent the end of last week on a mini-vacation in Myrtle Beach with all my baseball girls and our guys and now I've just been getting in the swing of everything in Lynchburg, VA for the summer!
So let me catch you up with a photo dump.
Wednesday night last week we had a family dinner and went over to the beach to see the sunset. It was one of the coolest sunsets I've ever seen.  It was so hazy outside that the sun was just a big red ball.

Since the sun went behind the clouds and we couldn't see any sunset, we played some family volleyball!

Then had a family photo shoot. 

  Possible Christmas card?! If it were just us three still it would be great, but gotta get one with DJ!

Thursday I took half day at work and drove to Lynchburg, VA and got in the car with a friend and drove to Myrtle Beach, SC.  Too many photos for one post, so be on the lookout for that tomorrow.

25 During 25 Update | May

Haven't done too much more in May, but here it is anyways. 

1. Run a 10k - DONE! Boom.
2. Do a blog give-a-way
3. Write a guest post - ideas are "brewing" between the baseball wives and hopefully we will have something together by the end of the summer on this one!
4. Shoot a gun
5. Go on a spontaneous trip
6. See sunsets in 10 different cities - Athens, GA from inside Sanford Stadium |  Lynchburg, VA from the skyboxes at City Stadium | 
7. Do a girls weekend trip
8. Have a house party
9. Volunteer for Habitat for Humanity
10. Buy a camera and learn how to use it
11. Go to a new state - A while ago, I did this post and had Maryland crossed off, but I honestly can't tell you what I did in Maryland that I was quick to cross it off. But with our trip to the Frederick Keys stadium a couple weekends ago, I can confidently say I crossed this one off this month! If not, we are heading to Nevada in November for a wedding, so that will 100% be the new state of the year for me as well!
12. Host a shower for someone  Loved being able to shower one of my best friends! Hope more showers happen in the future - wedding or baby!
13. Run a 5k in every month of the year, at least 5 of them being a race - runs- Jan | Feb | Mar | April | May (I got a little behdind on running, but was still active with other workouts.)
14. Buy a new computer
15. Write 5 thank you letters to companies that I use their products
16. Cash in a whole milk jar of coins to savings - this will happen in Jan 2016 when the jar is nice and full!
17. Tip 100% of my bill
18. Become CPR certified
19. Learn how to drive stick shift
20. Go to an NFL game
21. Do a 7-day smartphone detox 
22. Mail care packages to each of my siblings
23. Send my nana flowers out of the blue. 
24. Take professional photographs with D.J. and Stryker
25. Save $20 for every one of these that I complete - $120 in the milk jar with coins. 

Oh Hey June.

How in the world is it June 8th?!!?!

The spring flew by and I am ready for summer to slow down and enjoy the time in Lynchburg with my baseball dude.

I'll be heading out to Lynchburg on Thursday and excited for the first road trip of the year with some girls to Myrtle Beach. 

And as much as I will miss my summer in Norfolk, I am excited to explore this crazy baseball life with my hubs.

DIY Window Boxes

It's been a while since I did a DIY project, but this one seemed easy enough to put together and save some few bucks while I was at it.  I knew I needed some type of color in the window treatments for the bathroom, but indecisive Cayte didn't know what fabric would be best.  So after about six months of figuring that out, I finally decided on some! 

My awesome uncle made these two window boxes for me and let me borrow his staple gun and then it was game on from there. I got some batting from a local fabric store and cut it to the measurements of the board plus about 3 inches for it to fold over.

  

 The corners were the hardest part, but I just folded them over like I would do when wrapping a present.

Once the batting was stapled in place, I placed the fabric where I wanted it and started stapling away.

And the finished product....
